TORIT, 17 May 2013 [Gurtong] – The youth coordinator in the Catholic
Diocese of Torit, Fr. Jospeh Otto explained before the gathering
attended by more than 40 youth representatives that the process
employed was to identify programmes that youth people can carry in the
church so to tape talents youth have in them.

He believes that youth have rich talents to be utilised but they are
not organized well.

The coordinator has noted that there are lots of activities to be
implemented but priority needs must be taken into consideration to
translate them into production.

He emphasizes that Church needs youth most to be productive so that
they can change the society by developing their potentials in dynamic
pastoral programmes.

According to Fr. Otto, the youth should be organized in pastoral work
so that they bring their colleagues who are outside the Church.

He highlights that the Church need to tell the youth who have lost
hopes of life that life is meaningful and they should discover their
potentials by thinking to carry productive roles in the society to be
appreciated.

Fr. Otto disputes the idea that the youth are idle and cannot do
anything productive to the society, saying such believes have caused
lack of trust in giving employment opportunities to young people.

He notes that the Church seeks to organize the youth into productive
groups to regain and build public trust so that they can be offered
employment according to their capabilities.

Fr. Otto groups youth in the diocese into three categories with
diverse experiences that should be taped for development of the
region.
