JUBA, 17 May 2013 (Gurtong) – The Unity State Security Advisor Hon.
Manyiew Dak Gong says the security situation in the areas where they
were fighting has returned to normal and investigation is going on
till the perpetrators are brought to book.

He has also reported that eight policemen were among the dead
including two from SPLA’s Disabled department who were trying to
crackdown the group, other eight from Mayom and five from Koch County.

After the outbreak of the conflict, the Deputy Governor has directed
the SPLA forces to fully intervene and to deploy enough soldiers to
the site of conflict at Wang-dhoala and Bouw between Koch and Mayom
counties and ordered them to go back to their respective areas.

Although the cause of the fighting is not known, an eyewitness say it
is cause by cattle raiders who are carrying out cattle rustling
between the bordering areas of the two counties.

Peter Pouch says the SPLA should carry out immediate and peaceful
disarmament in the state as well as the rest of the states in South
Sudan to avoid tribal fight being fueled by cattle rustling.
