By Waakhe Simon Wudu JUBA, 12 June 2013 [Gurtong] - The bills that included Customs Service, Convention document on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora 1973 and Policy Frame Work and Strategic Plans (2012-2016) of the Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries were then referred to their relevant committees for further scrutiny so as to be tabled in their second reading for debate. The Justice Minister John Luk said the Customs Service bill when passed it will provide for the establishment of a regulatory framework, to govern and regulate functions and powers of the Customs Service and related matter. He further outlined that, the Convention is to establish legal framework to regulate International Trade in endangered species of Wild Fauna and Flora and to ensure that international trade in the endangered species shall not threaten the survival of such species. Dr. Elia Lomuro, the Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries said the policy framework enables the Ministry to very well proceed in managing the sector, saying lack of this frame work has presented challenges on how very well to proceed in managing the Animal Industry in the country. Experts said the South Sudan Animal Industry once properly explored and managed is likely to become the next great revenue provider to government.
