 SOUTH KORDOFAN

(
 2 Jul

y 2013) -

Forces of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) reportedly clashed with
Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) contingents on Tuesday, 53 kilometres from the
town of Dilling In South Kordofan.

JEM Vice President and secretary for the movement in Kordofan, Mohamed Al
Beel Issa Zayyed, told Radio Dabanga from the field that the JEM forces
were ambushed by the SAF in the area between Dilling and Bischol Mountain.

Zayyed said that while human casualties are still being assessed, his
forces captured 15 Land Cruisers as well as a truck mounted with an Ural
23mm cannon.

He stressed that the forces of the Sudan Revolutionary Front to which the
JEM is aligned, “are still stationed in the same area, and advancing on the
town of Kadugli (capital of South Kordofan)”.

He said that his forces are “behind the people” and appealed to civilians
to keep clear of military targets in the area.

Radio Dabanga was unable to independently verify these reports.
