*By Waakhe Simon Wudu* *JUBA, 19 December 2013 [Gurtong] - *“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of South Sudan would like to assure members of the foreign diplomatic corps, UN and International organizations accredited to South Sudan that civil tranquility has been fully restored following the aborted coup of former Vice President Riek Machar,” Marial said on Thursday in a statement. Last Monday President Kiir said ex Vice President Dr. Riek Machar and allies had attempted to over throw his government in a coup d’état that was foiled immediately. Riek however dismisses the allegations saying the situation was fabricated. Meanwhile Marial has also dismissed reports that the coup attempt was a tribal fight. Following the incident, businesses in the capital temporarily came to standstill. On Wednesday officials said at least 500 people both soldiers and civilians have died as a result of the fight.
