*EVERY CLOUD HAS SILVER LINING – THE FIGHTING IN MALAKAL IS DIFFERENT*

South Sudan has been in madness that has wrongly been categorised and
carried by international mass media as ‘tribal war’ between the Nuer and
Dinka. Yes, it is true the killings in Juba targeted the Nuer nationality
and it was executed *ala Interhamwe* style. However, some Dinka who share
the same facial marks as the Nuers (Agar, Ngok, Twii) were also killed
perhaps deliberately or out of mistaken identity. Equatorians, Shilluk,
were also target and were killed.

Last night somebody (name withheld) called me from Malakal. He had just one
request to prevent the tribalization of the fighting. “We were informed a
moment ago of a meeting between some politicians (names withheld) in Juba.
They want to fly Johnson Olony to Malakal in the morning to assist the
government forces. He should not make the mistake of coming. We do not want
him to break our unity. We the sons of Upper Nile have decided that the
enemy is Simon Kun and his government. Simon Kun, Gen. Johnson Gony (the
Commander of Division Seven in Upper Nile), James Oath Mai (SPLA General
Chief of Staff) are all appendages of Salva Kiir. We have you united to
fight the bad government.”

This morning I confirmed and found out that it was true some politicians
had met and had wanted Olony to travel to Malakal. He did not travel
because the opposition forces, which comprise all South Sudanese people,
have captured Malakal. You are free counter check. This would be the silver
lining of the darkest cloud over South Sudan.
