Warrap Opens Mobile Clinic For Unity State IDPs Authorities in Warrap state say they have established a Mobile Clinic in Twic County for over 5,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the area from neighbouring Unity State. 29 January 2014

Paul Dhel said the opening of the facility is a response to the deteriorating medical situation arising due to the increasing population in the area. Mr. Dhel also said malnutrition cases have been registered among the children of IDPs due to lack of good diets and sufficient meals, saying at least 24 cases are being treated through therapeutic feeding. "We established mobile clinic to response to medical emergencies at Managuei IDPs camp in Warrap's Twic County. Therapeutic feeding center is also established to address cases of 24 severe malnourished children," he said. The minister said his Ministry is collaborating with some International NGOs and UN agencies that are ready to save lives of the vulnerable civil population. "Our partners are ACF, Goal International, WHO, UNICEF and our country health department are on shift duty on daily basis in the camp to offer maximum medical care to our people," Dhel added. A child according to the minister has so far died of malnutrition related illness. The minister raised concerns that Malaria and diarrhea are threatening IDPs in the camp. "We lost one child who was malnourished and cases of severe malaria and diarrhea were reported," Dhel said. "We have clinical officers and nurses in the camp assisted by two doctors frequently when there is a need. Also all health facilities of Twic County are ordered to receive referral cases plus Alek and Gogrial hospitals which are nearer to the camp," he said.
