*TORIT, 07 February 2014 [Gurtong] -* The Governor of Eastern Equatoria
State (EES) Louis Lobong Lojore has appointed Mrs. Flora Ikoli Mathias as a
new member of Eastern Equatoria State Legislative Assembly with effective
from February 4th.

This came in a Gubernatorial Decree No. 03/2014 issued by the state
Governor Louis Lojore Lobong to replace the late Marcello Dominic Otwari.

"After consulting with the President of the Republic of South Sudan and in
accordance with Article 60 (4) of Transitional Constitution of Eastern
Equatoria State 2011, I Louis Lobong Lojore, Governor of EES, do hereby
issue gubernatorial Decree No. 03/2014 for the appointment of Mrs. Flora
Ikoli Mathias as a Member of Eastern Equatoria State Legislative Assembly
to represent constituency No.1, Torit town with effect from the date of
signature of this decree," the decree partly reads.

Though many constituents have welcomed her appointment, a few are
disappointed, saying the appointing authority did not do wider
consultation.

Hon. Ikoli and the late Hon. Otwari are both members of the SPLM Party.

Late MP Otwari died in November 2012 while undergoing treatment in Juba
after suffering a stroke a week earlier in Torit.
