More than 20 students from various faculties of the University of Bahr el
Ghazal ended on Friday a workshop of two days on using the internet to
spread peace messages and to identify and counter hate speech online.

The workshop organizer Viola Joseph said says Wikipedia is a source of
information where there is a lot of information about South Sudan, this
information may be outdated or incorrect, so she trying in this workshop to
encourage the students to write correct data about South Sudan in this
workshop, and this in will contribute to the peace process.

Viola added that the workshop was held under the auspices of DefyHateNow
initiative which is supported  by the German Foreign Ministry by rog agency
for open culture and critical transformation.

The second part of the workshop was about the importance of using the
Internet to spread messages of peace and not to use it to spread violence
and hatred among citizens in South Sudan.

One of the students involved in this workshop said that they have
discovered that Wikipedia can provide either accurate or inaccurate
information about South Sudan and this workshop is an opportunity to do
needed correction.
