Two police officers killed in fresh attack on Kajo-keji police station

KAJO-KEJI (25 Jan.)

At least two police officers were reported killed in an attack by gunmen on
a police station in Kajo-keji County in South Sudan’s Yei River State today
morning, a local official said.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Stephen Lado Onesimo, Minister of Information in
Yei, said that the SPLA-IO rebels came and attacked the Kajo-keji Police
Station around 6:00 am, but they were repulsed.

He pointed out that the incident resulted in the killing of at least two
policemen. Stephen claimed that the commander of the assailants was
captured during today’s clashes. The local official pointed out that the
incident caused fear and panic among local residents, saying citizens are
leaving their homes in fear of further fighting in the area.

” The local residents are scared and people are running away from the area,
but the chiefs and local leaders are talking to the people not to panic,
because what happened this morning was an isolated incident,” said Ladu.

However, Stephen claimed that the security situation returned to normal
after the attack.
