25 civilians killed in bombing in Wau Shilluk: SPLA-IO official WAU SHILLUK (1 Feb.) At least 25 civilians were killed in aerial bombardments carried by the South Sudanese Air Force in Wau Shilluk area in South Sudan’s Upper Nile state on Friday, a rebel official said. Col. William Gatjiath Deng, spokesman for the SPLA-IO forces, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that the SPLA Air Force bombed a camp for displaced people in Wau Shilluk area on Friday.He pointed out that the incident resulted in the killing of at least 25 people. For his part, Ateny Wek Ateny, South Sudan’s presidential spokesman, denied claims that the government had bombed an area designated for displaced families in Wau Shilluk.“We do not have time to bomb the rebels, we have given the rebels ample time, the President has called on the opposition to join the national dialogue,” said Ateny. Separately, William Gatjiath announced that they are now holding about 21 children and 5 women trapped during clashes in Gabat and Khor areas in Upper Nile on Monday.“During the fighting, we found 5 women and 21 children trapped in the fighting, we brought them to our headquarters in Kuek, “said Gatjiath.
