The SPLA has refused the Head of United Nations Mission in South Sudan to
access Wau-Shilluk area in Upper Nile region. David Shearer says the denial
to access the area comes after thorough discussion with the government. He
says his intended visit to the area was to check on civilians in need of
assistance.

The Head of UNMISS who also doubles as the UN Special Representative of the
Secretary-General welcomes President Kiir’s speech on national dialogue. He
says the mission will support the national dialogue if it is inclusive. The
UN Special Representative says delivering humanitarian aid is challenging
due to bad roads and multiple checkpoints.

The official was briefing journalists in his first press conference in Juba
this Wednesday. CRN is yet to reach SPLA for comment over the matter.
