SPLA denies UNMISS Chief access to Wau-Shilluk CRN
Wednesday, February 22, 2017 - 15:29 The SPLA has refused the Head of United Nations Mission in South Sudan to access Wau-Shilluk area in Upper Nile region. David Shearer says the denial to access the area comes after thorough discussion with the government. He says his intended visit to the area was to check on civilians in need of assistance. The Head of UNMISS who also doubles as the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General welcomes President Kiir’s speech on national dialogue. He says the mission will support the national dialogue if it is inclusive. The UN Special Representative says delivering humanitarian aid is challenging due to bad roads and multiple checkpoints. The official was briefing journalists in his first press conference in Juba this Wednesday. CRN is yet to reach SPLA for comment over the matter. -- To post to this group, send email to [email protected] To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [email protected] Visit this group at https://groups.google.com/d/forum/southsudankob View this message at https://groups.google.com/d/msg/southsudankob/topic-id/message-id For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/d/optout --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
