White Nile governor appeals for food aid for South Sudan refugees WHITE NILE (27 Feb.) The governor of Sudan’s White Nile State, Abdel-Hameed Musa Kasha, has called on UN agencies to intervene and assist the South Sudanese refugees who are arriving in the state. Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Sunday, Governor Kasha said the number of refugees from South Sudan is increasing due to the upsurge in recent fighting between the warring rivals in northern Upper Nile. Musa added that this increase in refugees is constraining the already limited resources in his state.Musa pointed out that they anticipate more refugees in the coming weeks and hence the need for a greater intervention from UN agencies and other humanitarian organisations. The Sudanese official pointed out that the activities of South Sudan warring parties along the border affect communities in both countries.“Some bombs fall into the Sudanese territory and this has forced many local communities to live in fear and some have been forced to abandon their areas. The bombs have also killed many cattle belonging to the Sudanese community,”he said. He noted that they have already notified the warring parties in South Sudan to be cautious of their activities around the border areas where communities of both countries reside. -- To post to this group, send email to [email protected] To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [email protected] Visit this group at https://groups.google.com/d/forum/southsudankob View this message at https://groups.google.com/d/msg/southsudankob/topic-id/message-id For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/d/optout --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
