JUBA, 20 May 2017 [Gurtong]-On the 5th of May a Land Cruiser vehicle
and a passenger bus heading to Bor town were attacked by unknown
gunmen in Sudan-Safari area of Terekeka State.
The First Vice President said that the culprits of the attack must be
apprehended in order to cub the vice.

“Investigations must take place so that if there are accused people
they should face the law,” Taban said. “This is the only way of
fighting lawlessness and impunity we cannot allow this kind of crime
to continue in our country, because we want our country to move
forward.” he added.

He was speaking in Juba during the opening of a two day meeting
between delegations of Mundari and Dinka Bor communities aimed at
resolving the conflict between the two which has created tensions in
the past two weeks.

The dialogue is expected to come up with resolutions to ensure calm
between the Mundari of Terekeka State and Dinka Bor of Jonglei State.

Taban Deng said the conflict is a national problem as the three
communities of Bari, Mundari and Dinka Bor share roads that connect
the Southern parts of the country to the north.

He reiterated that the two communities should not trade blames on who
is responsible for the conflict, but rather come up with solutions to
the problems.

The suspension of transport along the road has caused food shortage in
Bor town. However, the Governor of Terekeka State, Juma Ali Malou said
in the meeting that the road was opened on 16th may to allow trucks
reach Bor.
