I'm planning to rebase sox_ng's git tree to split off the issues/ stuff
as a separate project. The only thing it has to do with sox_ng is that
codeberg.org/sox_ng/sox_ng is the default repository that it talks with
and there are no commits that modify files both in issues/ and
anywhere else in the tree (well, only one, where I accidentally
commited a change to src/opus.c to change #include <opusfile.h> to
<opus/opusfile.h> so that it would work in more places, but can apply that
separately.)
This will mean dividing the commits into ones that affect sox_ng and
those that deal with issues/* and "git push -f"-ing the result to codeberg
which will change all the commit IDs. Luckily (and thanks to it!)
I should be able to automate editing of the issues and wiki
to reflect the new IDs of the commits they reference because
the proto version of putissues.sh now works up to the point
of editing issue bodies and all the commits have a different tagline
so matching them is possible.
Any existing migrations, clones or forks will need to be recreated
or git pull -f'd.
I wrote it there because sox_ng does need this
(as does every other open source project :)
but it's so generic that keeping it in the sox_ng source tree's
only purpose is to make free publicity for sox_ng,
which it will continue to do with its default repo name.
Eventually, issues/ will only contain the issues themselves,
included in the code's git tree and the shell scripts will either
go into bin/ or you'll be able to install them separately
in /usr/local/bin or wherever.
Or `pkg-whatever install issues` :-) One day.
I shouldn't have to touch anything before the last release, 14.4.3.1,
though getissues.sh was in that. My feeling is that it can stay there
as it useful to sox_ng and is in the releases and I'll put putissues in too
when it's in a properly working state but at present its development
is cluttering up sox_ng's commit history with stuff irrelevant to SoX.
Opinions are welcome on whether I should remove it from the git history
completely (including prior to 14.4.3) and on whether I should do this
at all
Blessings
M
