Okay couple of things come to mind then...

On the box does service cobblerd status show the cobbler daemon running okay?

I'm not in the office today so running from memory rather than my SW
instance... but it should be admin/configuration/cobbler with a button
that says sync or something like that I think.

Spacewalk interacts with cobbler over the RPC API for cobblerd so it
is that which needs authentication... so far as I recall cobbler does
not interact with the database directly[1].
