I'm having a similar problem. I've just installed a spacewalk 1.7 server, created the channels, uploaded the packages and registered a client (CentOS 5 i386).
When I run yum on it I see this: # yum clean all Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, rhnplugin Cleaning up Everything Cleaning up list of fastest mirrors # yum update -v -v Loading "rhnplugin" plugin Loading "fastestmirror" plugin Config time: 0.098 Yum Version: 3.2.22 Setting up Package Sacks Looking for repo options for [centos5-i386] Looking for repo options for [spacewalk-nightly-client-centos5-i386] Looking for repo options for [centos5-i386-updates] Determining fastest mirrors rpmdb time: 0.000 Setting up Update Process Updating Everything Building updates object Setting up Package Sacks Setting up Package Sacks up:Obs Init time: 0.001 up:simple updates time: 0.000 up:obs time: 0.000 up:condense time: 0.000 updates time: 0.076 No Packages marked for Update But on the spacewalk web interface I see that the system has 21 updates available and I even schedule a few of them. It looks like the client isn't able to fetch the rpms from the spacewalk server, maybe I missed a step during instalation? 2012/3/25 Brian Collins <[email protected]> > Have you tried 'yum clean expire-cache' and then re-running either yum > update or rhn_check? > > --Brian > > ------------------------------ > *From:* Eugene > *Sent:* Fri 3/23/2012 10:18 PM > *To:* [email protected] > *Subject:* [Spacewalk-list] yum update does not see any new packages from > a spacewalk server. > > I am experimenting with 1.7 release by feeding updates to two fedora 16 > systems.
