I was checking size of repodata on our production machine and I see the biggest ones:
362M /var/cache/rhn/repodata/rhel-x86_64-workstation-6
350M /var/cache/rhn/repodata/rhel-x86_64-server-6
326M /var/cache/rhn/repodata/rhel-x86_64-server-6.7.z

rhel-x86_64-workstation-6 contains 19521 packages.

800M repodata looks to be a lot. How many packages are in that channel? If it's a public repository, can you share the url, so I can sync it and check size the generated repodata and whether I'll find something odd there?

Hi *All*

SpaceWalk Version: 2.5
O/S version: OEL5.x (Oracle Enterprise Linux)

We are facing an issue with slow repository build for all the OEL5.x
clients. Inf act client is building 800MB of xml files as below mentioned.

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1958177 Jul 31 11:00
updateinfo.xml.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1302 Jul 31 11:00

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 604397568 Aug 4 08:44

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1116515 Aug 4 09:29 comps.xml
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 777163776 Aug 5 02:22
filelists.xml.gz.sqlite
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Aug 5

But, I understand that only few MB of xml files should be download. I
found a bug related to this kind of issue
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=729657) however as
suggested in the bug to upgrade the "yum-rhn-plugin-" will not solve
this issue. Still client downloading all the files and HOST BECOME
UNRESPONSIVE. Over the monitoring side host down alerts.

Guys, I really need some direction to sort this issue, your time and
efforts are greatly appreciated.

Best Regards
Malla
