If you're dealing with Ubuntu 16, 18 and up, you will also want to look at Philicious' web log post on scripts to support apt-get secure (including all the comments which contain a lot of important updates). SUSE can be trickier. If you're talking about OpenSUSE, then I haven't tried to use those but I think there are some pre-configured channel setups that you can load (I forget the command, sorry). I also think you can do SLES 11 out of the box (or with some minimal changes out there on the web - I think it's been over a year since I did it so I forget), but I had to write some custom patches for the Spacewalk server to support SLES 12 and SLES 15 package syncs, which I haven't had time yet to prepare as a pull request.
