Within the channel definition, you can specify to block certain packages. Something like
"-perl*" would not sync perl packages. Note that this might break dependencies. I am receiving Firefox package updates in a Centos7 channel that I don’t believe should be occurring; I’ve figured out a way to temporarily delete the Firefox package updates, but once the channel syncs (which is often), the Firefox updates pull again and I am left with the same issue.
