Thanks Sidney. Both possibilities might apply (behind firewall and/or old
DNS
module). I did try 'hostname ....' on a few of hose reverse lookup ip's, and
that went fine (same as you indicate), so there must be something else the
test is trying.

Still, it would seem important that make test works in most settings,
including firewalls, and if there is a version dependecny on DNS that
should be noted as well.
