it's also a more minor issue in the new spamd -- in the old spamd,
causing the daemon to exit meant no more processing could occur since
it would be the parent dying, and it spawned children for processing.
in the new spamd, causing the daemon to exit means that specific child
handling the connection dies, and the parent can just spawn a new one.
