Tested MUA Behaviour testcase with
OE 6
Outlook 2000 SR 1
In both cases the MUA recognized the thing as a link,
but in both cases the link failed to do anything when clicked or double-clicked.
I conclude that for these browsers this form of link is safe and can be ignored.
(Note that IE will happily resolve a site if "spamassassin.org" is pasted into
the address bar, even with searching disabled. However, this would require
considerable extra effort on the part of the victim -- cutting and pasting --
to manage to find the spam site.)
