FYI: You can also use the environment variable PERL_MM_USE_DEFAULT like this:
export PERL_MM_USE_DEFAULT=1
perl Makefile.PL
I use this for the new Gentoo ebuild as that doesn't allow redirecting stdin
from /dev/null.
I should actually document that one day...
