Ok, when I run that I still get the error, but when I change it to this:

mini:/etc/init.d# /usr/sbin/spamd -v -u
vpopmail -d -pidfile=/var/run/spamd.pid
invalid port at /usr/sbin/spamd line 151.

I get a new error.

First that is strange that I have to change the pidfile, second why would
that port be invalid. If i just run:

/usr/sbin/spamd -v -u vpopmail -d

the process starts fine.
