Title: Spamd hanging and autowhitelisting

Hi,

Last Friday I had a problem which slowed/stopped a large percentage of the mail in to my site for 3 hours. Briefly I have  tied in spamd with Exim to process all incoming mail to our site. This worked happily until has Friday. On inspection the symptoms were masses of spamd processes spawning but not returning anything back to the calling exim controlled processes. Looking at /var/log/syslog told me nothing. I tried a number of things including stopping and starting the server; setting a maximum number of children that spamd could spawn and looking at spamd in debug mode. Nothing worked; On restart mail would start processing again - buit after a few minutes the bad situation would return. Knowing I hadn't changed anything since the system worked reliably I looked into the .spamassassin directory of the users that was calling spamc and saw that my autowhitelist files had grown huge (over 200MB), out of desperation I deleted this and the system return to its own speedy and reliably self. Unfortunately I I also deleted the bayes database as well and so I am unable to say definitely if the problem was caused by autowhitelisting however I suspect it was. Is there anyway of controlling the maximun size of the auto-whitelist database? If not, what do people do to control its size?
