using the directions from the url below, i configured postfix to filter
mail with anomy sanitizer and spam assassin (following the link from
spamassassin.org)

http://advosys.ca/papers/postfix-filtering.html

i set everything up with the machines normal hostname
(dastardly.laits.utexas.edu), and it all works just fine for mail being
sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED] however, this machine has a
second, virtual interface named mail, and when i send mail to
[EMAIL PROTECTED], it bounces around a few times, then gets
returned to the send with the message:

----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
(reason: 554 5.4.6 Too many hops)

----- Transcript of session follows -----

can anyone think of anything that would cause this? i've gone through the
regular documentation for configuring both spam assassin and anomy, and
neither one seems to have any sort of directive for specifying hostnames
that it's filtering for. postfix itself is configured to receive mail at
either name, and with the filtering disabled, will do so.

for what it's worth, i've also tried getting spamassassin working w/
postfix w/o anomy using the instructions here:
http://hints.linuxfromscratch.org/hints/postfix+spamassassin+razor.txt

however i still get the same result. mail to @dastardly works, but mail
to @mail won't. is there something wrong with the filtering scripts? is
there something in one of the perl modules spam assassin or anomy utilizes
that checks the hostname? have i missed something in the filter
documentation for postfix?
