This isn't the sample-spam.txt from the SpamAssassin source tarball,
isn't it..? It would be nice if you can post it.

...make me feel that it is a simple text file, not an e-mail - it
doesn't contain any header lines, only some text.

What happens if you give SpamAssassin a _real_ mail to test?

What happens if you manually provide a username through the "-u <user>"
option of spamc?
