Removing the '-s daemon' makes no difference.
Verify that your /etc/syslog.conf file has the "daemon" stanza in it and that the associated file exists on the filesystem. You may be hitting a problem there (if syslog.conf points to a non- extant file it _won't_ create it). I run spamd on Solaris 8 and perl 5.8.0 with logging set to local2 (spamd -s LOCAL2) and a syslog.conf entry of: local2.debug /var/log/spamlog and it works quite nicely. I sincerely doubt that anything substansive changed between Sol8 and 9 for logging. > Also noticed that we get the > > unix passed to setlogsock, but path not available at > /usr/local/bin/spamd line 280 > > message upon starting spamd. That's normal, but annoying. Logging still works correctly, though. +------------------------------------------------+---------------------+ | Carl Richard Friend (UNIX Sysadmin) | West Boylston | | Minicomputer Collector / Enthusiast | Massachusetts, USA | | mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] +---------------------+ | http://users.rcn.com/crfriend/museum | ICBM: 42:22N 71:47W | +------------------------------------------------+---------------------+ ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: SF.net Giveback Program.
