   Verify that your /etc/syslog.conf file has the "daemon" stanza
in it and that the associated file exists on the filesystem.  You
may be hitting a problem there (if syslog.conf points to a non-
extant file it _won't_ create it).

   I run spamd on Solaris 8 and perl 5.8.0 with logging set to
local2 (spamd -s LOCAL2) and a syslog.conf entry of:

local2.debug    /var/log/spamlog

and it works quite nicely.  I sincerely doubt that anything
substansive changed between Sol8 and 9 for logging.

   That's normal, but annoying.  Logging still works correctly,
though.
