Yep, it got me this time around too! The test ran very fast, but in actual operation I'm running around 10 secs per message.

Does anyone know the string to create a virtual ram drive using FreeBSD? I'm

Just my $0.02 on tmpfs... I stopped using them years ago because there never seemed to be enough. There was always some job that would use all of the space. Maybe I should mention that this was in the day that giving up 16MB of RAM on a server was a major decision. ;-)

Shouldn't you find out what is causing such long processing times? While I do have some higher numbers here and there, the vast majority of scans take 0.N seconds on a 2GHz P4.

Some things that have worked for me...

1) Run a caching nameserver on the SA machine.

2) Move RBL's to the SMTP level. If you're going to reject it anyway, why bother processing it? ;-) I'm using SORBS, NJABL and MAPS.

3) Disable network checks (-L for spamd). For some reason, Razor and Pyzor shot my times into the 10sec range after I upgraded. These weren't doing very much for us anyway.

Good luck!
Scott
