I started using spamassassin on my RedHat 7.3 system a few weeks ago. For my
personal mail it has been some help. I've been working at training it. I used
a lot of old verified messages and some known spam taht I've accumulated in a
large folder. I have also retaught it from errors that it has made (both
positive and negative errors).

However, my daughter (whose mail comes through my linux mail server) says she
has noticed a disturbing trend. Since I put the filter in place, while the
spam that gets to her is properly marked, there is much more spam than used to
come to her. It is almost as if something in the way the filter is configured
is causing it to do something which confirms the validity of the email address.

I have disabled it until I can check more since the last thing I want it for
her to get some of the really nasty stuff out there (she is 16).

I put the suggested configuration lines into /etc/procmailrc to use spamc
program as the filter.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Bruce
