I am running MailScanner w/ SA v2.63 along with sendmail. This means that the logs get dumped into /var/log/mail/info. For stats, my favorite so far is Vispan(1) and it has been working well for me. I would do the layout of the general info at the top a bit different, but I hear that is coming soon from the author.
In the past, I have also used MailScanner-MRTG(2) with good results -- I simply want more than just graphs though, which is why I switched to Vispan. However, sometimes I'd like to just get some quick test-only stats on partial log files. A couple of days ago, on the list, someone mentioned the sa-stats.pl(3) script and also spamstats0.6a.pl(4). Both of these seem to do things that I want -- I'd especially like the "top X" feature of spamstats. The problem is that neither of these seem to like my log file. I also don't see them mentioned in the SA Wiki. Are these no longer valid for v2.63? Or is it a problem with the way sendmail does the logs? spamstats appears to mention sendmail format support, but I always get no results. Putting it in debug mode shows a few errors about "delivering a message it never received", but doesn't so it for every entry in the log (i.e. it doesn't appear to be rejecting ALL of the entries because of that). Any thoughts on that? Should those scripts work for me? Do they work for anyone else using sendmail w/ MS w/ SA? Thanks! - John...
