this with this list? I have been on many
developer lists before, but this is the first one that does not have a consistent "Subject line" to advise of what list
it belongs to. eg... [spamassassin-users list] subject here.

If you need to hack subject lines, do it locally via procmail or some such thing. It's pretty simple to do and the list itself adds plenty of identifiable message headers that any worthwhile tool can filter on and trigger a subject-line tag insertion.

If you want to do this with procmail, I discuss this on my Procmail Quick Start, which is here:

 <http://www.ii.com/internet/robots/procmail/qs/>

An example of munging headers is in the Spamassassin section, which is here:

But, what I do to read most mailing lists these days is just use the Gmane NNTP server. That way I don't have to do any filtering or header munging and it all just works. This list is available via NNTP here:

 <nntp://news.gmane.org/gmane.mail.spam.spamassassin.general>

or via the web here:

Hope this helps,
