Thanks!!! That was it! I just needed to completely stop and then restart amavis. Worked great!
So, is there a way around this so I wouldn't have down time. No really biggy, but I update rules pretty often, so it would be nice to not have to completely stop amavis.

I don't know of a way, I don't update all that often so I just manually stop the daemon, wait a few seconds, and start again. I think the current distro of amavisd comes with an init.d/rc.d script that does the same for you. IIRC there was mention of this on the amavis-user list by the author and it was something on the wishlist, but was low priority. I don't recall if Amavisd 2.0 (build 20040701 or newer) have this feature or not.
