The SpamBayes equivalent of whitelisting is to use the
"Recover from Spam" button on any message that is incorrectly classified. This
should have the desired effect, though it may be necessary to train a few
messages this way if they are otherwise similar to spam you've trained
on.
Whitelisting per
se generally is not necessary with SpamBayes. The email address is just one
more piece of information about the spaminess of a message. As you train
SpamBayes, it will figure out which senders reliably send ham. Unfortunately,
just because you know or believe that someone does not personally send spam, you
can't assume that unscrupulous third parties won't send messages that pretend to
be from that person. As a result, SpamBayes' training-based approach is often
superior to whitelisting and/or blacklisting.
If you really
need whitelisting or blacklisting,
you can use Outlook rules to move messages from senders you trust (or don't
trust) to folders of your choosing. If you have SpamBayes configured to filter
your inbox, it will process any messages that remain.
This has recently been discussed extensively on the
list (see the "Feature Request" messages at http://mail.python.org/pipermail/spambayes/2005-April/thread.html),
and there's a FAQ on the subject: http://spambayes.sourceforge.net/faq.html#why-don-t-you-add-whitelisting-blacklisting-to-spambayes.
