In this instance, the system is fairly well self-documented. There are extensive comments in the code, including a fairly detailed explanation of the tokenization scheme. I'd suggest that you check out the source files and look at them. Even if you're not a programmer, the comments are quite readable. The source is available at spambayes.sourceforge.net
