I use Gmail with POP3. On my Mac I use fetchmail to download my mail and
pump it into procmail which runs SpamBayes' sb_bnfilter.py program.
taskr> Will this be straight forward to set up?
You didn't say much about your environment, but presuming you're using POP3
then you should be able to at least use the SpamBayes pop3proxy.
taskr> Can I get SpamBayes to pre-train from the K9 data?
If K9 stores its raw spam and ham messages in some file format common on
Unix systems like mbox or Maildir format you can train from that. I'd just
start from scratch and train a few ham and spam you should be okay. Also,
note that Gmail is going to filter out the bulk of your spam (you will need
to keep on top of things for awhile and pluck out false positives and false
negatives).
taskr> Must I uninstall K9 before installing SpamBayes?
Probably not, but if K9 is an Outlook plugin and you want to use the
SpamBayes Outlook plugin it would probably be wise.

Never heard of K9 before...
