This is only tangentially related to Spanning Sync, but posting in case anybody knows:
Is there a way to make all your contacts' photos default to whatever picture they've uploaded from their Google account if they have one? Mine are all kind of mixed now -- some from people's Gmail/Gchat profile pic, some I guess are pulled automatically from Google Plus profies, and then others I've put in myself in Address Book (which are then synced over by Spanning Sync).
