The Linux esp driver is waaay too picky about cabling compared to the
Solaris one. Machines that have been running Solaris for years fail
miserably - even during install. Buses are according to specs (to the
extent that you can say that about the internal cabling in Suns),
properly terminated etc., but you end up with corrupted filesystems in
no time.
I worked around the problem by pulling all internal devices except the
the system drive (CD, extra disk). External devices are fine.
Oh, and this was on Ultra 1 boxen.
