Debian GNU/Linux 2.1 works just fine. I have at least two SS5-170's
running in various places. I would suggest, however, using the latest
boot disks from from 2.2-tobe. Send an email to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] for Debian specific information/support
etc.

Derrick Brashear added support for the SS5-170 around 2.0.34 (I should
know, I crash tested all his kernels).
Currently, both my SS5-170s are running 2.2.12 without problem.
