Is there anything inherently wrong about downloading the Rawhide distribution of
kernel 2.2.14-1.1.0 and using it to upgrade my Red Hat 2.2.12-42 kernel?
I actually did this. At the conclusion of the GNORPM install (upgrade), several
messages appeared complaining that certain files were missing.
When next booted, SILO failed. I had to 'upgrade' the kernel from my Red Hat 6.0
(kernel 2.2.5-15) kernel and reinstall the boot loader. Once done, /etc/silo.conf was
modified to recognize the new 2.2.14-1.1.0 kernel.
At least the system now boots to this newest kernel. But I'm afraid that I've mixed a
cat into a dog's world. Should I revert back to 2.2.12-42 and wait for a Red Hat
distribution of 2.2.14?
