Hello all, I tried booting 2.3.47 again on the SparcServer 1000E, with the fix to arch/sparc/boot/Makefile and arch/sparc/kernel/sparc_ksyms.c from vger CVS. The machine no longer dies on a btfixup error, this is what I get on the console: bootmem_init: Scan sp_banks, init_bootmem(spfn[21d],epfn[fe78]) free_bootmem: base[0] size[fe78000] reserve_bootmem: base[0] size[21ffcf] init_bootmem: return end_pfn[fe78] Watchdog Reset Type help for more information and then I'm back to the boot prompt/debugger. I tried commenting out DEBUG_BOOTMEM, and the machine actually seemed to get a little further: No textual output came from the kernel, I actually saw the framebuffer initialize (the screen flashed to black), and an instant later the white console screen came back with the "Watchdog Reset". This is all with a uniprocessor kernel; I didn't bother to even try a SMP build. By the way, I'm not asking anyone to waste their time on this if they aren't interested--- I would like to run 2.4 on this machine eventually but I'm not in a hurry and I know you guys have more important things to do :) 2.2.15pre works great in SMP mode on the machine so far...
