Jilayne and all

The OMG is a standardization organization created in 1993? Richard is the CEO
since the beginning. It has been initially created to standardize Objects
systems (which lead to CORBA and then extended its scope to other technologies
such as UML, ..)

Normally you have to be a member to attend the meetings which are a week long
(there are very various level of membership) in addition you have to pay for
attending the meetings (to cover the room location the lunch, ...).

In this special event which is a half day long during the one week meeting of
Santa Clara, I understand that you do not need to be a member (Alcatel has been
a member from 1997 to 2007 and Lucent from 1995 to 2007) and do not have to pay
a fee to attend the meeting.

Now the rules of OMG (since we have been a member for a while) might have
changed. But I am not organizing the event, OMG does and all reference are at
the link bellow (contact OMG staff for details)

http://www.omg.org/news/meetings/tc/ca-13/special-events/FOSS.htm

Note also that OMG is a "de-jure" standardization body and is governed by the
Robert's rules of order (rules defined for voting in English parliament that I have to
learn, since I have been the chair of the telecom group during ten years, so you make
motions, firendly motions, motions to table a subject, ... each come with different
majority 8-))

Hi Michel,

This looks great and I would be interested in attending, pending what my
specific employment scenario is at that point. I'm very glad to see that Phil
will be presenting on SPDX and would be happy to support that effort, if I
could be at all helpful!

It appears that there is no cost to attend, is that correct? Do you think it
will fill up ahead of time, or would I be safe to wait a bit before
registering? (and my apologies if you are not the right person to ask!)

Thanks for the info and all you do!

Cheers,
Jilayne
