Artistic-Scientific Interactive Project: Index of Women The interactive installation Index of Women by Andreja Kuluncic starts in Split, Croatia with placating of posters in the urban space. The installation is part of the international “Women in Crossroads of Ideologies” programme, prepared by Ana Peraica and organized by the Croatian Association of Painters, Split. The “Index of Women” is collaborative project that registers the manner in which the position of women is registered by the women of Split-Dalmacija County, answering a poll titled “How do I feel?” The poll is based on scientific research and experts’ proposals on creation of sociological poll. The experts’ group included Inge Koludrovic-Tomic, Rebeka Anic, Jadranka Polovic, Suncica Gluncic, as well as associations Domina (working on promotion of women rights) and Mirta (assistance to victims of domestic violence). The project should assist the analysis of women’s place in a county in which, the initial research hints, the rights of women are under severe attack. The first results of the poll will be available in two days’ time, and will be published on www.hulu-split.hr. The second segment of the project, providing live updates of statistics will be exhibited daily on the display located in the window of “Galic” Salon in Marmontova Str. The women can dial the toll-free number 0800 7879 and participate in the poll. The recording machine will register their definitions of their respective positions: satisfied, discriminated, abused . The media are invited to report how women of Split feel, according to their answers in the poll. Andreja Kuluncic was invited to participate in the project because of the her exact and scientific approach to art, and the ability to shape this important social project on several levels. www.adreja.org ______________________________________________ SPECTRE list for media culture in Deep Europe Info, archive and help: http://coredump.buug.de/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/spectre
