SONIC DIMENSIONS: Sound, Space and Multichannel Audio The workshop focuses on sound as an architectural, sculptural element and intends to introduce to the participants the technical and aesthetic aspects of sound-installation, multichannel audio, syntactical programming for audio spatialization/localization and relevant matters. The final objective for the participants will be the realization of a collective sound-installation piece. The workshop is separated in three modules as follows:
#1. Sound & Sound Synthesis - Introduction in Acoustics, Psycho-acoustics and phenomenology of sound. - Introduction in the SuperCollider programming environment. - Sound Synthesis and Sound Processing. #2. Sound Spatialisation & Localisation Strategies - Multichannel Audio and Sound Spatialization. - Holophonic & Periphonic configurations, VBAP and Ambisonics - Convolution, De-correlation, Delay lines, granulation, etc. - Aesthetics. #3 Sound Installation - Realization of sound installation(s) based on the participants' ideas. Participants profit form: - The opportunity to explore emerging practices, technologies and methodologies - Hands on activities and experimentation within the digital and physical domain - An active learning environment, which enables one-to-one teaching, seminars and discussions Participants have the ability to work on their ideas and experiment at Space Under premises on dates between the workshop classes, after prior arrangements with the offices.
