What happens when AI not only generates art, selecting works that reflect
established aesthetics, but also invents entirely new genres? Are we seeing
novel collaborations, or challenges to human artistic authenticity? Can a
machine be an artist? The next step may be AI that creates and curates
personalised art, delivering memetic content for casual audiences, while using
the same processes to create historically-informed works for galleries or
collectors. We’ll explore three key shifts: digital artists self-curating art
overproduction while retaining control; curators and artists using prompts to
instantly visualise and position work within art history, bypassing traditional
gatekeeping; and traditional curators and academics gaining powerful tools to
analyse collections and uncover hidden trends. Whether you're an artist,
curator, collector, or simply curious, this Zoom-only session offers critical
perspectives on integrating AI into creative practice—while preserving the
human values still central to art. At least, for now.

Geoff Davis is a pioneering generative artist, founder of the annual AI
Creative Anthology (2023) and Micro Arts Group (1984). His early AI 'Story
Generator' (1985) has been exhibited internationally, he is an AI researcher at
University of the Arts, London and a PEN-published author. Mario Klingemann is
best known for his work involving neural networks, code, and algorithms. His
popular system ‘Botto’ launched a new version in London recently. Kalen Iwamoto
is a conceptual writer and artist, co-founder of verseVerse. Her recent work
includes The Writing On The Wall.
