The *#PeaceJam2025*theme, */“/**The Irrational Dimensions of Pop
Culture: Viral Trends, Memes, AI, and the Language of Hate,”*explores
how this irrationality, marked by humor, fear, outrage, and virality
drives the appeal of online content, often reinforcing hate speech,
disinformation, and social division.
From deepfakes and AI-generated memes to echo chambers supported by
social media algorithms, we will discuss how emerging technologies are
fueling a new wave of digital content that is hard to trace, emotionally
manipulative, and rapidly spreading. At the same time, we highlight how
AI and digital creativity can also be used for peacebuilding, education,
and countering hate speech.
