The Relentless Suffocation of our Community Spirit and Radical Selves. By Marc
Garrett.
This text reflects on the sacrifice of Palestine Action hunger strikers in UK
prisons, who are protesting military ties with Israel. It contrasts the ideal
of Christmas compassion with global injustice, arguing that societal
complacency suffocates our radical spirit. Drawing on Peter Linebaugh’s “The
Incomplete History of May Day,” it connects environmental (“Green”) and
workers’ (“Red”) struggles as one unified fight for justice. Similarly, the
DIWO essay asserts that ecological and social justice are inseparable. In 2025,
we stand at a precipice: we must reclaim our history, reject oppressive
systems, and choose collective, urgent resistance to avoid a future of fascism
and ecological collapse.
