just for interest we did a little test with HPUX boxes several months ago. As you said, the default agent does not support rfc2790, at least not out-of-the-box Based on that we tried net-snmp, but we've not been too successful. The interface table did not reflect all the interfaces configured at os level, according to the HPUX admins, some ip addresses we're shown on wrong interfaces. HOST-MIB support is detected by SPECTRUM, but it seems to be a matter of luck and time to actually see values e.g. in the filesystem table. In other words, it wasn't reliable. I really do not claim the findings to base on a full test scenario, but at least I wanted to give the hints I have in my mind. I found out, on the new HP-UX boxes there is a subset of the SNMP Research Emanate Agent on it but I could not get the RFC 2790 to work...
