On top of what Calvin said, be sure to see if there is a core file in the SS
directory and a .VNMDB.LOCK file. You will want to restore you last known good
backup to safeguard youself against any database corruption.

Subject: Re: [spectrum] SpectroSERVER Terminated

Hello Keith,

When trying to determine the reason why a SpectroSERVER might have crashed, I
normally look at the VNM.OUT and RCPD.OUT files in <specroot>/SS and I look at
the SCP.OUT file in <specroot>/bin. Other than that, you can enable various
levels of debugging in your .vnmrc file and in the administration section of
the web page. If you have a server that crashes regularly, then I would
recommend contacting support.
